Meet Jackson, this quarter’s inspiration for Sweedie Dreams. Jackson is 3 years old and full of life! Born a healthy appearing boy, when he was 5 months old he woke up one day vomiting to the extent of hospitalization and fighting for his life. The vomiting continued for a year and a half and to this day they do not know what caused the vomiting. Jackson has been in and out of the hospital since, and he takes medicine every hour or two to control his conditions. We received so many great nominations for our Fall Sweedie Dreams that we had a hard time choosing. After much thinking, we decided to go with the organization with the most nominations: Kulture City.  Kulture City is a non-profit organization with the mission to create a world where all individuals with autism and their families are accepted and treated equally. Founded in 2013, Kulture City provides tangible help, fulfilling immediate needs for the children and their families. Currently they have nine different projects going, all with the same goal in mind: Remove the societal limitations placed on children with autism...

Summer Sweedie Dreams

Meet Holly, this quarter’s inspiration for Sweedie Dreams. Holly is a very happy 3-year old with an extremely rare gene mutation (STXBP1). She recently started pre-school and absolutely loves it! The teachers are wonderful, the therapists are awesome and she’s made so many new friends! At home, her best friend is still the family cat Alex, who is never far from her, even at bath time. While cats used to be her favorite animal, they are now a tie with horses. About a year ago, Holly started equine therapy and instantly fell in love with horses. As part of the May Sweedie Dreams, we are introducing the Rett Girl Bandana Bib!!! This beautiful purple print has been chosen by the Girl Power 2 Cure organization. Their mission is to raise awareness, support families and fund research in support of Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a debilitating neurological disorder that predominantly affects girls. The baby’s initial development is normal, but around age 1 developmental regression starts to occur. Most girls with Rett Syndrome cannot speak, walk or use their hands.
